Unique Valentine’s Jewellery Gifts

Combining a careful choice of charms with a charm carrier bracelet is a great way to create a unique Valentine’s day jewellery gift that is of special significance. Firstly, select from traditional heart shape charms (or perhaps some quirkier, individual styles that have a special meaning to your partner) and then add a bracelet to make a really personal jewellery gift.

ROX OWNERS ARE ROXSTARS FOR THE DAY AND NAMED RETAIL STARS IN PROFESSIONAL JEWELLER’S HOT 100

Friday, September 16th, 2011

Kyron Keogh & Grant Mitchell

We were rocking and rolling all night long when we were recognised as Retail Stars at this year’s Professional Jeweller Hot 100 event. The annual event names the best jewellery retailers throughout the UK which are added into the Hot 100 book for 2011.

We swapped our dapper everyday attire for flamboyant rockstar inspired outfits and bold facepaint to pose as American 70’s rock band ‘Kiss’ at this year’s Hot 100 photoshoot for Professional Jeweller magazine.

We are one of few jewellers to be nominated for the second year in a row and were presented with the award at a dazzling award ceremony on Tuesday 6th September 2011, at London’s One Mayfair. More than 700 guests attended this year’s Professional Jeweller Hot 100 event in association with The Company of Master Jewellers and supported by Ti Sento, Aagaard, Swarovski and Trollbeads, where Professional Jeweller editor-in-chief Rachael Taylor announced the winners to be entered in this year’s Hot 100 book.

The pictures were showcased at the glittering event on Tuesday evening and we were named as one of the best jewellery retailers in the UK in the ‘Retail Star’ category. The accolade recognised our best practice and innovation in the industry, outstanding customer service and keeping customers satisfied with great products and excellent retail experiences.

Kyron Keogh said: “We are absolutely delighted to be part of Professional Jewellers Hot 100 and honoured to be recognised as a ‘Retail Star’ in this year’s book. It’s been an exciting year for ROX with the launch of thrill room which has given us a great space for hosting private shopping events that reward our existing, loyal customers and help us build relationships with newer customers. As a company we always believe in treating our customers like VIPs and this is very mush an extension of that philosophy.”

He added:  “We had a great time at the photoshoot – we wanted to do something a bit different, a little daring and that’s why we both chose to dress as one of our favourite rock stars – ‘Kiss’, we wanted to unleash our inner ROXstar.”

Hot 100 is an annual project run by Professional Jeweller. Each year the magazine’s editorial team selects 100 individuals in the UK jewellery industry who it believes have shown true innovation and have driven their businesses, and so the industry, forward over the past 12 months. There is no number allocation in the book, and instead it is divided up into sections to reflect the different types of individuals profiled and photographed for the book. This year the sections were:

  • Trendsetters – the leading established jewellery designers of 2011
  • Retail Stars – the best jewellery retailers in the UK in 2011
  • Business Big Shots – business leaders who have excelled in 2011
  • Trailblazers – individuals who have pushed the boundaries in unique sectors in 2011
  • NexGems – Professionals Jeweller’s pick of the star jewellery designers of the future

Professional Jeweller editor-in-chief Rachael Taylor said of the event:  “Everyone who has made it into this year’s Hot 100 has excelled in the past year and is an example of best practice in the industry, from trendsetting jewellery designers creating beautiful designs to retailers working hard on the shopfloor to keep customers satisfied with great products and excellent retails experiences.”

Recently named Scottish Retailer of the Year and Independent Retailer of the Year we now have four stores in Scotland in Glasgow’s Argyll Arcade, Braehead and Silverburn and Union Square in Aberdeen as well as our online store at www.rox.co.uk stocking a wide selection of beautiful diamond jewellery and cutting edge designer brands such as Monica Vinader, Ebel, Shaun Leane, Stephen Webster, ToyWatch and Thomas Sabo to name just a few.

Steal J-Lo’s style

Wednesday, April 20th, 2011

American Idol judge, chart topper, movie star, mum… there’s nothing Jennifer Lopez can’t do and it’s no surprise to us that she was recently voted the world’s most beautiful woman.

To top it all off, the woman knows how to accessorise. Check her out rocking chunky statement bangles, a gorgeous disco ball ring and a dainty little love heart necklace… we love her look (and wish we had washboard stomachs like her too!)

You can recreate J-Lo’s look with the Thomas Sabo Black Disco Ball Ring, stacked ROX Silver bead bracelets, our adorable diamond love heart pendant and our large gold plated hoop earrings.

Where Does The Sparkle Come From?

Friday, July 9th, 2010

The UK is not exactly known as the epicentre of diamond-mine country. So where do the diamonds for our fabulous ROX jewellery come from and how are they mined? The short answer is far away and ethically.

Pure carbon + colossal pressure + millions of years = rough diamonds (which can lose 50% of their weight once cut) for export. Sounds simple doesn’t it? In reality this equation is exceptionally rare. Once a potential site is identified there are three factors to consider when judging the merits of moving forward – how stable is the land around the site? How environmentally damaging would it be to mine the area? And finally, what type of terrain must actually be mined?

Platinum emerald certified diamond ring 0.50ctsIn 1867 diamonds were unearthed in the Cape Colony of South Africa, drastically altering the global diamond market forever. South Africa is, to this day, the largest exporter of diamonds in the world. Prolific diamond mining nations are Angola, Australia, Borneo, Botswana, Canada, Congo, India (where diamonds have been mined for over 2,800 years), Lesotho, Namibia, Russia, Siberia, Sierra Leone, Tanzania and Zimbabwe.

An industry concern amongst diamond jewellery producers is the ever-present issue of conflict diamonds. Here at ROX we’ve included a special webpage to help explain a) the nature and origins of conflict diamonds, and b) a written promise to you that all our diamonds are sourced ethically. You can also be sure that diamonds from our partners like Pandora jewellery, Links jewellery and Stephen Webster jewellery carry the same promise.
