"No Dirty Gold" (www.nodirtygold.org) is an international campaign to ensure that gold mining operations respect human rights and the environment.
The Responsible Jewellery Council (www.responsiblejewellery.comi) is an international not-for-profit organisation committed to promoting responsible ethical, human rights, social and environmental practices in a transparent and accountable manner throughout the industry from mine to retail.
ROX supports both the "No Dirty Gold" campaign and the Responsible Jewellery Council and we expect our business partners to adhere to socially and environmentally responsible business practices. We take the impact of our company's supply chain seriously and we believe that gold should be extracted and processed in a manner that respects the needs of current and future generations.
In February 2008, ROX took the initiative to source a range of Canadian Certified Gold to demonstrate our commitment to ethical sourcing. Canadian Certified Gold now accounts for more than 25% of ROX gold jewellery and we aim to increase this over the coming year.
All Canadian Certified Gold jewellery is guaranteed to be made with only gold mined and refined in Canada using safe and responsible mining practices. To succeed, the manufacturer has created an innovative system of tracking and tracing the gold during mining and refining. Look out for the Maple Leaf symbol stamped on ROX gold jewellery as a symbol of authenticity for Canadian Certified Gold.
