Are you the future jewellery maker we are looking for? Do you have design ideas that could help shape the future of commercial jewellery design in the UK? 

If you think the answer could be yes, we would be delighted to invite you to submit a design for our Future Makers competition, our search for the most talented young jewellery makers in the UK. 


The Prize

For the designer who is selected as the winner of our inaugural Future Makers competition, the prize consists of two fantastic opportunities:

A four-week internship

The winner will join us at our head office in Glasgow, working alongside our Buying Director.

A commitment from ROX to create the winning design, crafted by our expert jewellery team.

How to enter the competition

We are looking for designers to submit an original jewellery design with a commercial tone. We would like you to put forward a design that you believe would fit well within one of ROX’s luxury boutiques.

Entrants should align their submitted designs with one or more of the following themes:

- Celebrating life with loved ones
- Living life to the full
- Cherishing special moments

Each jewellery design brief submission should include no more than 200 words on your:

- Inspiration
- Research
- Design
- Development
- Final Design (Hand-drawn or CAD)

Competition Details

The submission deadline is 28th February 2022.

The winner and nine runners-up will be invited to a champagne reception where our ten favourite designs will be showcased in a gallery format for attendees to enjoy the level of quality currently being displayed by the next generation of British jewellery designers.

As an award-winning jeweller with boutiques in major UK cities including Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Leeds and Liverpool, ROX could be where you take your first steps into the world of commercial jewellery design.

We are passionate about jewellery design; we pride ourselves on both our level of innovation and the design quality of every piece that we create. Looking across the world of contemporary jewellery design, we also believe that new British jewellery designers are still among the best jewellery designers in the world.

Kyron Keogh

Kyron co-founded ROX in 2002 with his business partner Grant Mitchell. With a background in surveying and management consultancy, Kyron understands the commercial side of the jewellery industry like few others in the UK. He has driven ROX’s growth in-store and online with a keen focus on the customer journey and experience.

Grant Mitchell

Grant co-founded ROX in 2002 with Kyron, coming from a background studying gemology and jewellery in Glasgow before starting a jewellery stall in Camden Market and then moving back to Glasgow to open Lewis Grant in the iconic Argyll Arcade. Grant brings a trusted understanding of design quality and innovation, ensuring ROX set some of the highest standards in the industry.

Janice Kirkpatrick OBE

Professor Janice Kirkpatrick OBE is an award-winning designer with more than 35 years’ industry experience. In addition to her design consultancy business Graven, Janice is also a broadcaster, writer, curator and lecturer, serving as an Alumnus Professor at the Glasgow School of Art. She was awarded her OBE in 2013 for services to graphic design and has one of the keenest design eyes in the world.
