ROX was thrilled to join thousands of football fans on Sunday (June 10) in support of Soccer Aid. It was a full house at Old Trafford as Robbie Williams’ England XI took on Usian Bolt’s World XI in a game like no other. Celebrities including Olly Murs, Mark Wright, Joe Wicks and Martin Compston joined pro players such as Eric Cantona and Michael Owen at the Theatre of Dreams as part of the annual football extravaganza in support of Unicef.
It pays to keep your ear to the ground, finger on the pulse, eyes on the prize and many other parts of your anatomy elsewhere. For, in these ‘woke’ times, 2018 is already offering a smorgasbord of smart thinking and cultural newness, to keep even the most apathetic of men enthralled to the now. Take note!
As we countdown the days until Prince Harry and Meghan Markle say ‘I do’ royal wedding fever is taking the nation by storm. To paraphrase a male columnist who obviously thought they were being hilarious: “Women are fashionable right now”. Bring me linen, espadrilles and little else, stat.
As chance would have it, ROX Man’s guest editor, Alex Doak is fresh from his own Perfect Proposal (though he says so himself) and while a traditionalist at heart, he decided to pop the question not with a ring but a watch. The fact his now-wife also happens to be a watch journalist might have had something to do with it, but still – could this be a viable new alternative? Read Alex’s account and make up your own mind.
